Streamlight 61302 Argo HP C4 LED Headmount Flashlight, Black

Cheap Streamlight 61302 Argo HP C4 LED Headmount Flashlight, Black Review

This is a well constructed, weather resistant, rugged very bright headlamp. It is ideal for cold weather hiking since the lithium batteries tend to keep their charge longer than conventional batteries in the cold. The C4 lamp easily lit objects 100 feet away. The on/off high/low intensity button is all sealed so water will not get in. The battery container is also well sealed as is the lamp assembly. It comes with two sets of head straps - one for use on your head and the other for use on a helmet. It is comfortable and not too heavy.

I originally bought this for a different reason - indoor use. I work with certain ultrasound equipment that requires a dimmed room, so dim that I couldn't see the area I was working on well. This headlamp was too bright for this use. After using the light, my eyes were adapted to bright light and I couldn't see the ultrasound screen well.

The only design flaw that I encountered is that the on/off button does not have any hard cover or shield on it. After rolling it up and throwing it in my back pack and stuffing in a lot of gear around it, the button was pressed on and the light left on for a day. If you pack carefully, this should not be an issue.

Overall I like this light and recommend it. I live in Maine where the winter days are cold and short. It is great for evening cross country skiing or winter mountain climbing. The lithium batteries are more expensive but reduce the weight for the amount of power they provide. I recommend buying a 10 pack of batteries, since the price is substantially less per battery than buying a two pack at local stores. They last for years.

Cyclops CYC-HC5GRT Orion 5 LED Hat Clip Light, Green Bulb, Realtree AP Camo

Cheap Cyclops CYC-HC5GRT Orion 5 LED Hat Clip Light, Green Bulb, Realtree AP Camo Review

I got the 5 LED with green diodes in camo...works perfect for getting set up out in the woods or the marsh before sunrise. Nice to be able to use both hands to get the dekes ready. I have another LED headlamp that I use for hiking, etc. This one is much lighter. If I am wearing a cap this is the one I will be using.

SureFire HL1-C-TN Helmet Light; 3 white, 2 red, 1 blinking infrared LED

Cheap SureFire HL1-C-TN Helmet Light; 3 white, 2 red, 1 blinking infrared LED Review

This light is typical Surefire, work s very well and the best money can buy. I have the white/blue LED version and it works very well for hands-free work. The blue doesn't mess with night vision too bad, and the white is bright enough to work by without being too bright. The three brightness settings are easy to adjust as well. Positive lockout for when you don't want it to turn on is a huge plus. My only real complaint is that is only comes in tan. A black version of this would be more to my liking, also a foliage green as well. (I also am not sure how water resistant this really is, but it has survived plenty of rain and sand.) For those of use who like to have mission specific gear, that would be nice. The molle strap clip is a great option to get with this for when you are not wearing a helmet. The molle clip stays very tight onto the straps and holds the light securely. The only problem I seem to have is with REMF's who always want to swipe the good gear that me and my guy's have. This is highly recommended. Do not even try to be cheap with the knockoff versions on some auction sites.

Dorcy 41-2089 Button Cell-Battery 5MM LED Deluxe Headlight

Cheap Dorcy 41-2089 Button Cell-Battery 5MM LED Deluxe Headlight Review

It's a single LED headlight that I picked up for well under the other day. It isn't going to get you off Mount Everest at night in a snowstorm but you aren't going to use it for that anyways. It's good for doing tasks around the yard at night, hikes in the dark at the lake, and perfect to toss in an emergency kit. I like it.

Petzl E99 PG Tikka XP 2 Headlamp, Graphite

Cheap Petzl E99 PG Tikka XP 2 Headlamp, Graphite Review

I purchaced this headlamp just after puchacing the Tikka Plus. This is a wonderful headlamp. I especally like the little flip difuser. Switches between spot and wide angle.... nice addition. And of course the brightness levels, flashing, red light, and red flash is a welcome add. Both Tikka Plus, and XP are a wonderful choice. But of course I take the XP, and my wife gets the Plus. Either one is great, and it is much lighter than my older Myo 5... which is also a kick ass lamp.... Thinking about it... I have never been disapointed with Petzl Headlamps. The XP makes it my 7th Headlamp. I also have 4 of the older Petzl Zooms. They have served me well over the years. Have been used in many night paddling events with groups of people. They took a beating and still light up... just old tech. So they are retired now and slowly being replaced with LED. I think the next on my hit list has to be the Petzl Ultra... dream on.. Buy the XP

Princeton Tec Pulsar II White LED Key Chain Light (Green Body)

Cheap Princeton Tec Pulsar II White LED Key Chain Light (Green Body) Review

My Pulsar II had a three-way switch with three modes:
1. OFF mode (disengages the "squeeze & shine" mode that others complained drained the battery)
2. Squeeze & shine mode
3. ON mode

I don't know if other users did not notice this difference, or, more likely, if the switch on my model is an improvement over older models. FYI, I bought mine in October 2009 from REI, not from Amazon, so: caveat emptor.

Coast LED Lenser TT7498CP H7R Rechargeable Focusing Headlamp with Dimmer, Black

Cheap Coast LED Lenser TT7498CP H7R Rechargeable Focusing Headlamp with Dimmer, Black Review

Mine is an older model. It has a dimmer control, but does not focus. There are 5 white LEDs controlled by one push button and a single red LED on another button. The white LEDs turn off when the red light is on. The sliding dimmer switch works on either. Bought it probably 3 or 4 years ago. The 3 AAA alkaline batteries have been changed maybe twice in that time.

The light lives inside its compact pouch in the glove box of my car, through all the heavy Wisconsin weather: freezing, soggy, humid or hot. It rarely comes inside. Yet unlike every other flashlight I have owned- including several Maglites- the LED Lenser has never once failed to work when I needed it.

In rural Wisconsin, it gets dark at night. Really dark. From changing a tire on a lonely country road to checking the barnyard for predators to dragging the trashcans down the driveway for pick up the next morning, I have had more than a few opportunities to be grateful for this product.

This evening I took the time to open the watertight battery compartment, fully expecting to see leakage and corrosion after all this time. Even as old as they are the batteries were still pristine. The light still worked blindingly well. That was when I decided to write this review.

[...]Built well, feather weight, tough as nails, comfortable to wear and apparently the batteries last forever. I can't recommend this light enough.

7 LED White Head Lamp Flashlight with Head Strap

Cheap 7 LED White Head Lamp Flashlight with Head Strap Review

I am a telephone technician I use this light almost daily. The light accepts AA batteries which seemed to last three or four times longer than the headlamps that use AAA although the compartment does seem slightly small for the AA batteries they do fit. The plastic this light is made of is soft plastic which is a good thing because it's not brittle and won't crack like others. I highly recommend this headlamp After the first purchase I ordered four more for holiday gifts.
